The California Department of Boating & Waterways trains Dockwalkers to distribute educational information on environmentally sound boating practices. Model Environment is grateful to bring awareness to the program by connecting clean water advocates, Nina Smidt, Helene Traasavik and Carla Houston, to the Dockwalking program. Through their organization Earth Angels, Nina and Carla started Soak It Up, a campaign to educate boaters seeking their boating permit on environmentally safe practices.
Special thanks to Maia Smidt, Jasmina Hdagha, Christy Beck and Annelisa Balfour for collected surveys and drawing crowds to The Bay Foundation booth at the Marina Fest. If you are interested in educating others on clean boating practices, and to learn more about becoming a certified Dockwalker, follow this link. See you on the docks! And YES, that is Zac Sunderland in the carpe diem t-shirt!
